How to find Tigh Cargaman once you've arrived on Islay:

It's not difficult to find, but depends whether or not you disembark at Port Ellen or Port Askaig.

1. From Port Ellen it is less than five minutes away:

1. Drive off the ferry and at the first road junction, by the derelict "Islay Hotel" and opposite the Royal Mail Office, turn left towards Bowmore. Continue for half-a-mile past the White Hart Hotel on your right and towards the Maltings. With the sea on your left and having passed playing fields/small housing estate on your right, turn right into Tigh Cargaman about 75 yards before you reach the Maltings. We are at the top of the drive.

The ferry disembarks in the centre bottom square marked "Port Ellen" just below where it says "SCHO.ST" and Tigh Cargaman is where the direction arrow points (referenced by Postcode PA42 7BX).

2. From Port Askaig it is a twenty minute drive.

Leave Port Askaig on the A846 (the only road out) traveling towards Bridgend and Bowmore. After Bridgend the road forks with both roads signposted to Port Ellen. *Fork left onto the B8016 which is a very straight single track road with passing places. Follow the B8016 for about ten miles until it rejoins the A846 just before Port Ellen. As you drive into Port Ellen you pass the Maltings on your right and Tigh Cargaman is 75 yards further on on your left.
