Tigh Cargaman Holiday Cottages

Islay, the Queen of the Hebridean Islands and the historic centre of the Lord of the Isles, is a wonderful holiday destination. Largely unspoilt, it offers a tranquil retreat from the rigours of modern living. Its climate is mild, so mild that the cattle and sheep can graze outdoors all year, and produce some of the finest beef and lamb in the UK. It is most famous for its whisky – there are no less than 7 distilleries on the island – and for its wild life, particularly the 34,000 barnacle geese that winter on the island from October to April. But you don’t have to be a whisky fanatic or a wildlife enthusiast to enjoy Islay; it has so much more to offer.

If you are looking for self-catering accommodation then Tigh Cargaman Holiday Cottages make an excellent choice and provide an ideal base for exploring the island.  Situated in the 2 acre grounds of Tigh Cargaman (built in 1842 for the Port Ellen Distillery Manager) the 3 cottages are open throughout the year and offer high quality accommodation with fully inclusive pricing – no extras or add-ons. There’s ample car parking space, and lots of space for children to play safely. Whilst offering quiet seclusion the cottages are only a short walk from all the amenities of Port Ellen and close to the airport and ferry terminal.

Tigh Cargaman offers wonderful views over Kilnaughton Bay and the Oa (pronounced “Oh”) peninsula, and on clear days the hills of Antrim, Northern Ireland are clearly visible. The beach is at the end of the garden (over a road), and the island Maltings and the old Port Ellen Distillery are close by.
